Signs of a Defunct Irrigation System
Farming is a difficult job; CTW understands the complexity of maintaining your irrigation system. Here’s an in-depth look at three signs that your irrigation system is not functioning properly.
Abnormal Water Costs
Running a farm requires you to keep track of costs such as labor and energy bills. Although you may generate a large water bill, it’s essential to thoroughly examine it and keep an eye on how much water you’re using each month. A substantial increase in your water bill is often the first sign that there’s an issue with your irrigation system.
Crops are getting too much or not enough water
Your crops can tell you a lot about your well water system. If you notice that there’s more water in one area or certain crops are drier than usual, there could be a problem. An irrigation system that is working properly will water your crops evenly.
Unpredictable water pressure
Lack of water is usually easy to see. Pressure will be down in your system and the entire field will not be irrigated; monitoring your system pressure daily will quickly find problems with your system. Biofouling, mineral deposition and holes in the casing or column pipe are all responsible for reduced flows and pressure in your system. Monitor the pressure and you catch the small problems before they become the big ones. This could be caught early if you have regular water well maintenance.
What We Offer
For over 40 years, CTW Corporation has partnered with the agricultural industry to develop comprehensive water management systems. With our wide variety of maintenance offerings, we’re always ready to help you solve any agricultural water problem you may have. Our team of engineers, master plumbers, and VFD technicians are trained to provide all of the following services:

Well Rehabilitation
CTW has extensive experience with well rehabilitation and a high success rate of refurbishing wells of all ages. We’ll design a customized procedure to restore your well’s water capacity. This unique approach will help you save on energy costs because your well pump and motor will need less power to distribute water to your irrigation system.
Whether it is chemical, mechanical or physical rehabilitation, our project engineers have the experience to apply the most efficient approach to your well issues. Our agricultural technicians use Air Shock® technology with an air impulse generator, with guns ranging from 2.8” to 8”. CTW’s 8” gun is only one of five available in the entire country, and it’s the largest available in the Midwest. Our guns can rehabilitate wells from 6” to 48”, and they can fire the equivalent of 35 grams of TNT per pulse.

Variable Frequency Drive (VFD)
CTW Corporation can install, integrate, and customize a variable frequency drive (VFD) for your water supply equipment. A variable frequency drive will help maintain a constant pressure or elevation in your system, allowing your wells and water source to function with efficiency.
By using our unique VFD system, you may be eligible for financial incentives. We partner with Focus on Energy that typically provides incentives close to $40 per horsepower.

Pivot Irrigation
CTW specializes in pivot irrigation. We use only top-of-the-line equipment to ensure that your crops are getting even water distribution. When you’re ready, you’ll work closely with one of our technicians to design and execute an irrigation plan that fits the needs of both you and your farm.
